I have just got a letter in the post from Southwark council, my London borough. They want to institute a 20 mph limit near where I live (Salter Road, SE16), enforced by average speed cameras. It is a busy residential road with a bad accident record etc, etc. Except it is nothing of the sort.

Ford Focus, Volvo C30 Get Top Marks In IIHS Safety Ratings

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has conducted a new battery of crash tests -- this time on an assortment of coupes. Generally speaking, all five models performed well, but the Ford Focus and the Volvo C30 came out on top, beating out the Chevrolet Cobalt, Honda Civic, and Scion tC.

Dodge recalling 72,000 Rams and nearly 17,000 Journeys from 2008-09

ram_journey_recall2The 2008 and 2009 Dodge Ram and 2009 Dodge Journey are being recalled by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, each for a different reason.

The Ram's windshield wiper motor isn't adequately protected from water, so it could fail completely due to water intrusion. Initial numbers suggest 72,138 Rams are affected. The fix is a stop at the dealership to have some vented wiper motor housings installed.
