Drive Report: 2010 Mitsubishi i-MiEV Electric Car

Last week, we wrote that the smash success of the Mitsubishi i-MiEV is leading the company to plan five additional electric cars.

We've now driven electric-car prototypes from a number of automakers: a 2011 Chevrolet Volt mule, the 2012 Nissan EV prototype, the 2012 Ford Focus EV prototype, and the disappointing Mini E. And we've ridden in the 2011 Coda Sedan prototype.

But the only actual production EV we've driven was the 2010

Mini E Electric Vehicle Is Far From Ready For Primetime

Last week, BMW proudly announced that Peter Trepp, of Pacific Palisades, California, had become the first person in the United States to take delivery of an all-electric Mini E.

We pity Mr. Trepp.

Surprise! Another Zero Emissions Partnership for Nissan

There are three constants in life: death, taxes, and Nissan's periodic announcement of another zero-emission partnership. This time, the Renault-Nissan Alliance is working with Progress Energy and the non-profit group, Advance Energy, both based in Raleigh, North Carolina.

The three entities will promote the development of an EV charging network to prepare the region for future plug-in vehicles. The group will also work towards EV friendly government

Preview Of The Nissan Cube EV Prototype

Preview Of The Nissan Cube EV Prototype

AutoWeek had a chance to test the prototype Nissan Cube EV. The previous generation body is used but the chassis and drive train  are supposed to be 99% final. It sounds like Nissan has a model with great potential. The test results seem promising. Here is a short summary of their findings:

  • Torquey car without traction control - this car launches
  • Extremely quiet
  • Nice suspension
  •  Brake regeneration that is not excessive
  • 100
