Zipcar, the world's largest car club sharing operator has teamed up with the Westminster City Council in central London to offer its car sharing members environmentally friendly car choices.

The car sharing club has added 20 different hybrid vehicles and 1 full EV to its lineup of available vehicles.  Some of the hybrid models include a plug-in Toyota Prius and the Honda Insight.The sole electric vehicle at the moment is the Citreon c1.

A company not well known for its lithium-ion battery production may soon become one of the world's largest battery producers.  Hitachi is not a front runner in production of lithium-ion automotive batteries, but their intentions over the course of the next several years could certainly change where they stand amongst the elite battery producers.

According to reports from the Nikkei newspaper in Japan, Hitachi plans to spend between $200 and $300 million to increase its battery

Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, the country's 12th largest airport, purchased its first electric vehicle to be used by the parking management staff.

The electric powered utility truck is a $22,000 Cushman vehicle.  It has the ability to run up to 55 miles on a single charge and could save the airport a significant amount of money on a yearly basis. 

The Cushman will cost approximate $200 to charge throughout the course of a year.  The

Brammo, a small start up company is set to release the first motorcycle in their lineup of electric vehicles.  The Enertia electric motorcycle will provide up to an equivalent of 293 miles per gallons.

The Enertia motorcycle is more than a fast scooter according to Brammo.  It is a real motorcycle that weighs in at 275 pounds and operates on electric power only.  The retail price is between $11,995 and $14,995.  That amount of money
