VW planning Polo-based mini MPV

Next up to announce a miniature MPV is Volkswagen, said to be eying its Polo for conversion to a (little) people hauler. In Europe such a car would go against competition like the Opel Meriva and Fiat Qubo. A VW board member suggested that such a car would be about adding to the company's small car variety, and it wants to have the right mix of offerings when the recovery comes.

Rabbit fans, you are too few. At least, that's how Volkswagen is feeling these days according to Automotive News.
The redesigned Golf which is already on sale in Europe, will come to America under the same name this fall, a reversal of the reversal instituted just a few years ago. No particular reason was given other than the fact that the U.S. was the only market that didn't use Golf.

2010 Volkswagen GTD Unveiled in Germany

Folks in the U.S. may not be aware that the Volkswagen GTI has a diesel-powered complement in Europe called the GTD. With the European launch of the new Golf-based 2010 GTI, VW has announced the 2010 GTD will follow shortly.
