I have just got a letter in the post from Southwark council, my London borough. They want to institute a 20 mph limit near where I live (Salter Road, SE16), enforced by average speed cameras. It is a busy residential road with a bad accident record etc, etc. Except it is nothing of the sort.

Goodwood to host 'British motor show'

A British motor show is set to take place on the eve of the Festival of Speed at Goodwood this year.

The show will take place on Thursday 1 July and, unlike most static motor shows, will allow visitors to test drive the cars around the Goodwood estate and up the famous hill route that features in the Festival.

Smoking to be banned in private cars?

Smoking should be banned in cars carrying children, according to a government public health lobby.

The idea is part of the UK Public Health Faculty's 12 point manifesto to improve wellbeing in Britain, which also includes plans for a 25 percent increase in cycle lanes by 2015.

Drink-driving offences fall, campaigners not happy

Figures released by the Association of Chief Police Officers reveal that the number of people caught drink-driving over the Christmas holidays fell by 16 per cent.
